What’s the Las Vegas Zero Emission Public Monorail?
The Monorail seemed to be originally envisioned like a joint venture between MGM Grand and Bally’s Hotel & Casino, with the theory to make a one-mile transportation technique linking the accommodations. This interesting and forward-thinking concept took effect in 1993 and quickly included strategies to grow to other places along the Strip.
Today, the Las Vegas Monorail lives on the Las Vegas Strip – the heart of the city. It links seven stations over 6.4km (4 miles) of elevated dual-monorail guideway, integrating the existing and re-equipping the 1.6km guideway of the former MGM Grand-Bally’s monorail line.
In 2000, the nonprofit NEVADA Monorail Corporation (LVMC) was developed and it purchased the former MGM Grand-Bally’s monorail line. The new expanded monorail system officially opened on July 15, 2004.
The NEVADA Monorail Company works the only real privately owned people transportation system in America. The Monorail uses no public funds to operate the monorail system.
